October 8, 2009 - Study Groups
Minorities in Psychology has decided to help form study groups between you and your peers for whichever classes you may share.
If interested, what you need to do is send an email to mip@ic.sunysb.edu with your name, and whichever classes you are taking that you would want a study group for. This is open for psychology classes AND non-psychology classes alike (especially science classes for anyone Pre-Med or pursuing a BS degree).
What we'll then do is email everyone (by class) a list of names and email addresses so you guys can email one another to plan scheduled times to meet up. It's your call what you want to do after we email you. If no one else matches up with one of your classes, you won't be able to form a study group for that class.
**If anyone is a TA for any classes and would be willing to give help, feel free to email us with your name and the class that you are TA-ing.**
In addition, if any of your friends wants to take part, this is open to them as well.

**If anyone would like to help us with putting up flyers around campus or in their psychology classes or making announcements during classes, please talk to us after our meetings or email us at mip@ic.sunysb.edu or stop by your office in Psych B 125.**
REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED FOR THIS EVENT:
safeTALK Training: This is a suicide alertness training provided by the Mental Health Association of Suffolk County. It is also being co-sponsored by the Psychology department, Minorities in Psychology, Psi Chi National Honor Society and the Center for Prevention and Outreach. Those that attend will learn four basic steps to recognizing people with thoughts of suicide and connect them with further help and care. Besides the knowledge gained from this training, people who take part will also earn a certificate in suicide alertness.
